ANEXT 09
I woke up on Friday morning with nary a thing to do. My friends would be busy for most of the day and I had no interest in merely loafing around. Oh, what was there to do? The answer that I came up with surprised myself and my friends. I decided to go to AnimeNext, an annual anime and manga convention in the tri-state area.

The badge that I received for ANext 09. One thing I’ve learned is “ABM”, Always Be Marketing.
I haven’t been into the animu or mango since I was a wee lad, but this event was a mere fifteen minutes from my home which made the decision to go a no-brainer. In addition, there were a few people that I knew who ended up being at the show.
Once at the con, I realized that I probably stood out in the crowd, as I was one of the few people not dressed like a pirate or videogame character.

A large gathering of folks dressed up as characters from Team Fortress 2. The spies are not absent, merely cloaked and in waiting.
Despite being under-dressed for the event, I had a good time. I played Rock Band with a few friends on a big projector screen and we actually did pretty well.

That’s not us. These are the guys who went before us. They sucked. Hard.
I didn’t end up making many purchases at the con, as I was not interested in the anime or giant swords that were on sale. I did, however, buy this sweet Flash t-shirt.

No, “You’re the Fastest Man Alive” is NOT what she said.
Overall, I would have to say that I enjoyed the experience at ANEXT. It was certainly different from the other conventions that I have been to (New York Comic Con) but it was fun nontheless.
